Fusor furnaces
“STRIKO WESTOFEN” MELTING FURNACES
EQUIPMENT
 Operation :

 melting furnaces are used to melt aluminum into ingots, shavings, etc.

 Main features are low maintenance cost, energy consumption and casting production.

 Fusion quality is cleaner.

 Improves performance in its operating mode.

 It can produce larger and more complex automotive parts.

 They meet /comply with specific performance to quality standards (ISO, ISO-TS, QS, among others)

 They can melt up to several tons of aluminum per hour.

“Alloys for the automotive industry”
Alloys improve the properties of the pure state

Characteristics of alloys with aluminum :

Greater hardness, lighter, more mechanical resistance, thermal conductivity, among others, becoming a viable option for use in the
automotive industry.
Classification in the composition of alloys

1xx.x: Aluminum (99.9% or 99.0% minimum)

2xx.x: Aluminum-copper (copper content 4 to 6%)

3xx.x: Aluminum - silicon -copper and/ or magnesium

(Cu content 0.2 - 0.5%, Si 2 - 10% and Mg 0.25 to 0.45%)

4xx.x: Aluminum-silicon (Si content 11.6 to 13%)

5xx.x: Aluminum-magnesium

6xx.x: Serie not used

7xx.x: Aluminum-zinc

8xx.x: Aluminum-tin

Alloy A319 T6

It is used in the automotive industry to manufacture engine components such as engine blocks, pistons,
and manifolds.

T6 Aluminum alloys have a nominal composition of aluminum allies A319, of Si (7.3%), Cu (3.2%), Mg
(0.28%), Fe (0.51%), Mn (0.28%), Zinc (0.25% ), Ti (0.1%), (Feng, et al, 2010).

This alloy has properties that offers a high degree of strength with excellent moldability, light weight and
good machinability, contributing to fuel economy which has a great economic impact.
Characteristics of the final products in the manufacture of "parts by injection" and "the gravity process":

Aluminum-magnesium-silicon alloy (Al-Mg-Si):

It has good castability and mechanical properties ( gravity casting)

Aluminum-Magnesium Alloy (Al – Mg):

It presents high mechanical resistance to corrosion , especially in sea water, and presents stability in plates during machining.

Aluminum – Copper Alloy: (Al – Cu)

favors in the hardening casting, has low density and good heat and mechanical resistance.

Aluminum - Copper - Silicon Alloy: (Al-Cu-Si)

the copper contributes mainly to the mechanical resistance and the silicon improves the castability .

Aluminum – Silicon Alloy: (Al-Si)

Silicon increases castability as well as corrosion resistance. This alloy has high ductility and resistance to mechanical impact.

Aluminum-Zinc-Magnesium Alloy: (Al-Zn)

Benefits hot and cold hardening.
