LANGUAGE USED IN ACADEMIC TEXTS FROM VARIOUS

Definition of Terms:
ACADEMIC WRITING- kind of writing used in school.
SUBJECT- topic of the text.
TONE- attitude of the author about the topic.
PURPOSE- the message of the author aims to convey. The authors
goal in writing the text.
LANGUAGE- words used by the writer in discussing the topic.
Expected to be formal in academic text.
Definition of Terms:
AUDIENCE- readers of the text.
POINT OF VIEW- how an author tells the information
STYLE- how an author arranges his/her writing. Techniques and
strategies in explaining the topic.
KNOWLEDGE- shows the expertise of the author on his/her topic.
EXPLICITNESS- information should be precise and exact.

PURPOSES OF ACADEMIC TEXT:
To inform(magbigay ng kaalaman)
To persuade(manghikayat)
To argue(manghamon ng ibat-ibang pananaw)
Formal language is used in Academic Texts
Avoid using colloquial or jargon words.
Avoid using hifalutin words.
Language should be in layman's term.
Backed up with valid evidences from credible sources.
