DISCIPLINES
Definition of Terms:
ACADEMIC WRITING- kind of writing used in school.
SUBJECT- topic of the text.
TONE- attitude of the author about the topic.
PURPOSE- the message of the author aims to convey. The authors
goal in writing the text.
LANGUAGE- words used by the writer in discussing the topic.
Expected to be formal in academic text.
Definition of Terms:
AUDIENCE- readers of the text.
POINT OF VIEW- how an author tells the information
STYLE- how an author arranges his/her writing. Techniques and
strategies in explaining the topic.
KNOWLEDGE- shows the expertise of the author on his/her topic.
EXPLICITNESS- information should be precise and exact.

PURPOSES OF ACADEMIC TEXT:
To inform(magbigay ng kaalaman)
To persuade(manghikayat)
To argue(manghamon ng ibat-ibang pananaw)
Formal language is used in Academic Texts
Avoid using colloquial or jargon words.
Avoid using hifalutin words.
Language should be in layman's term.
Backed up with valid evidences from credible sources.
