RECOUNT TEXT

DEFINITION

Recount Text used to re-tell/recount events


that occured in the past. This text telling
you about events/experience that happen
in the past.
PURPOSE

To re-tell past action/events.


GENERIC STRUCTURE (1)

Orientation
The first structure is orientation. In orientation, It’s give information to readers
about “Who, Where, When”.
Example:
Last Sunday, my friends and I went camping on the mountain. We went to
Palutungan, Kuningan. The spot was near from our town. It was about one hour
to get there. We choose Palutungan because it was not too far from our home.

Events
The second structure is Events. Events is a series of events.
Example: On the first day, we set up the tent on the camping area. The air was
so fresh there. We took a bath on the waterfall. The waterfall was called
“Curug Putri”. After played at waterfall, we felt hungry. Then, we cooked the
food for the lunch and had lunch together. The first night of our camping, the
air was so cold, we made a campfire, sang songs together and after we slept.
We used sleeping bag when we slept to make our body still in warm condition.

Re-orientation
The last structure is Re-orientation. Re-orientation is the
last part (ending of the action & personal comment about
the events).
Example: They made a memory by taking a photos
together in front of a waterfall and then went home
happily.
LANGUAGE FEATURE (1)

1. Using the simple past tense, past continuous tense, past


perfect tense, and past perfect continuous tense.

Ex: And, or, Until

TYPE (1)

1. Personal Recount
A personal recount is what’s most likely to be covered in school.

2. Factual Recount
A factual recount includes things like newspaper reports.

3. Imaginative recount
This kind of recount writing applies factual knowledge of an event to create a fictional account
of that event.
TYPE (2)

4. Procedural Recount
used to describe an experiment so that it can be replicated by
others. 

5. Literary Recount
This kind of recount writing is all about entertainment.
RECOUNT TEXT EXAMPLE (1)

Last Sunday, my friends and I went camping on the mountain. We


went to Palutungan, Kuningan. The spot was near from our town. It
was about one hour to get there. We choose Palutungan because it
was not too far from our home.
We prepared everything before went to Palutungan. We brought
cooking utensils and the food from home, clothes, camera, guitar,
etc. We went there by motorcycles.

waterfall and then went home happily. We felt very tired.
