• Notice: a sheet of paper giving printed or written
information usually put in a public place
• Notice adalah salah satu teks fungsional pendek
yang berupa petunjuk agar seseorang melakukan
atau tidak melakukan sesuatu.
• Notice ini dapat berupa frase (gabungan kata),
klausa (kalimat), atau berupa gambar/tanda/sign
(rambu-rambu).

§ should : hendaknya, seyogyanya
§ allowed/permitted/let : diperbolehkan

• gambar/tanda/sign yang diberi tanda garis
miring atau tanda silang (crossing).

q Jika notice tersebut berupa larangan, maka maknanya
akan identik dengan kalimat-kalimat yang
mengandung makna tidak boleh, misalnya:
• can’t/may not/must not : tidak boleh
• forbidden/banned/prohibited : dilarang
• not allowed/not permitted: tidak diperbolehkan
• not suggested/not recommended : tidak dianjurkan

1. berupa informasi singkat dan sederhana yang ditujukan
kepada orang lain.
2. harus mudah dipahami dan mudah dibaca, maka:
a. menggunakan kata-kata yang sederhana,
b. ditulis dengan jenis huruf (font) yang
sederhana, dan huruf berukuran besar.
3. dapat diletakkan (dipasang/ditempelkan) di tempat-
tempat umum
