New Zealand, island state in the

South Pacific Ocean. The country
comprises two main islands – the
North and the South.
The capital city is Wellington and the largest
urban area - Auckland, both are located on
the North Island. \
Politics
• Despite New Zealand`s isolation, the state has been fully
engaged in international affairs.
• New Zealand is a land of great contrasts and
diversity. Active volcanoes, spectacular
caves, deep glacier lakes, verdant valleys,
long sandy beaches, and the spectacular
snowcapped peaks/
• The country highest mountain is
Aoraku or Mount Cook.

• The Waikato, flowing through

the North Island, is the longest
river.
• Lake Taupo, located near the centre of the
North Island, is the largest one.
