Examples of research data: Documents (text, Word),

spreadsheets. Laboratory notebooks, field notebooks,
diaries. Questionnaires, transcripts, codebooks.

data
Qualitative data describes

questionnaires, interviews,
or observation, and
frequently appears in
narrative form.
Quantitative
data
Quantitative data are used
when a researcher is trying to
quantify a problem, or address
the "what" or "how many"
aspects of a research question.
It is data that can either be
counted or compared on a
numeric scale

Continuous data is data that
can be measured on an
infinite scale, It can take
any value between two
numbers, no matter how
small. The measure can be
virtually any value on the
scale.

Grouped data are data
formed by aggregating
individual observations of a
variable into groups, so that
a frequency distribution of
these groups serves as a
convenient means of
summarizing or analyzing
the data.
