DEFINITION
Netscape Communications was a computer
services company best known for its Web
browser, Navigator. Navigator was one of the
two most popular Web browsers in the 1990s. In
1993, a team led by Marc Andreesen created
Mosaic at the University of Illinois’ National
Center for Supercomputing Applications
(NCSA).
HISTORY
It was founded under the name Mosaic
Communications Corporation on April 4, 1994.
The company’name 1rst product was the web
browser, called Mosaic Netscape 0.9, released
on October 13, 1994.This browser was
subsequently renamed Netscape Navigator, and
the company took the “Netscape” name.

Netscape Browser provides more security
options, streamlines more standard browsing
tasks and arms internet users with more
timesaving solutions to their browsing needs.
