DISCIPLINE

2. Lack of discipline at home & Church
3. No role models.
4. No strict implementation
5. Impatience to self-gratification

discipline; it is stupid to
hate correction.

Blessed is the man whom you discipline,
O LORD, and whom you teach out of your
law, to give him rest from days of trouble,
until a pit is dug for the wicked. For
the LORD will not forsake his people; he will
not abandon his heritage; Psalm 94:12-14 ESV
1. Self-Discipline Prepares Us
"If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones. But if
you are dishonest in little things, you won't be honest with greater
responsibilities” (Luke 16:10).
2. Self-Discipline Keeps Us Healthy
“I discipline my body like an athlete, training it to do what it should.
Otherwise, I fear that after preaching to others I myself might be
disqualified” (1 Corinthians 9:27).
3. Self-Discipline Increases our Focus and Productivity
“Lazy people want much but get little, but those who work hard will
prosper” (Proverbs 13:4).
People God Uses to Discipline
Us

Our Critics
The Lord’s bond-servant must not be
quarrelsome, but be kind to all, able to teach,
patient when wronged, with gentleness
[meekness] correcting those who are in
opposition, if perhaps God may grant them
repentance leading to the knowledge of the
truth, 2Timothy 2:24
Deep in the words of our
critics are often the message
God wants us to hear.

Authority
Only a fool despises a parent's
discipline; whoever learns
from correction is wise.
Proverbs 15:5 NLT
To discipline a child produces
wisdom, but a mother is
disgraced by an undisciplined
child.
Proverbs 29:15 NLT
If you reject discipline, you only
harm yourself; but if you listen to
correction, you grow in
understanding.
Proverbs 15:32 NLT
For the LORD disciplines those
He loves, and He punishes each
one He accepts as His child."
