What are Tiger Parents?

demanding, and make sure that
academics and extracurricular
school activities are a priority.”
(Merriam-Webster Dictionary)

• Most commonly known as

developing child prodigies.
BUT

• “Tiger parenting doesn‘t create

child prodigies”
(Chamberlin,16)

• The way to judge a student is not 100

percent academic performance.
Among “ 444 Chinese-American families in northern California, a certain amount of
different parenting style was shown in this case. supportive (45 percent), tiger (28
percent), easygoing (20 percent) or harsh (7 percent).” (qtd. in Su Yeong Kim)

This is a perspective of a foreign scholar researching, and perhaps most of you feel
optimistic towards these data.

Perhaps you’re asking: If you’re going to illustrate on these data, then why are you
quoting the example at the beginning of this presentation?

parenting styles.

Advantage and Disadvantage of Tiger Parents

• Take care of all the affairs of children
But cannot represent them
when they grow up and become adults
• Tiger parents can shape their children to be
responsible and have good academic scores
Even
if it means harsh education.
Does the tiger parents have more
