Introduction of Raised Floor System?

Raised floor systems may also be called False Flooring Systems or Access
Flooring Systems. This elevated structural floor has a void above a concrete
floor to allow electrical, mechanical, and data cables to pass through.

It is the most effective way to create a void for cable management in the
computer room (cable tray system). There is easy access to every point of
the floor with the Raised Floor system.

Raised Floor Structure

Raised Floor Tiles

These tiles are typically made of particle board or Cement filled steel
tile. 
These tiles may be covered with various flooring finishes, such as HPL,
Vinyl, and carpet tiles, to suit the application need.

Support pedestal
Pedestals are adjustable floor height supports for raised flooring rigid
systems. This pedestal is designed to support removable floor panels. The
number of cables and other services determines the height of the pedestal.

There is a minimum height requirement of 200 millimeters and a standard

height requirement of 300 millimeters. The control room and electrical room
require pedestals that are 600mm tall.

Stringers
Stringers are an integral part of the frame. It is used to connect pedestals. It
is the stringers that support the raised flooring panel. As a result, the
structure is braced, and the load is evenly distributed across the pedestals.

Cementitious Raised Floor
Steel panels with a cementitious core are used for the construction of the panels. In
general, the panel measures 600mm by 600mm and is 32mm thick. An HPL or vinyl
covering would be applied to its top surface. The panel frame has been coated with
epoxy, and the base has a perimeter shape. 
As far as loading capacity, durability, and fire rating are concerned, this tile is ideal.

Wooden Raised Floor
This type of false Floor is made of particle board (chipboard) with a top
surface made of HPL or vinyl. The bottom surface is covered with a GI sheet
for fire rating. The standard tile size is 600 x 600, with a thickness of 38 mm.
You should consider this false floor type if antistatic and lightweight are your
main concerns.

Calcium Sulfate Raised Floor
The panel looks like a false floor panel made of wood. It is usually 600x600
and 38 mm thick. It consists of calcium sulfate with a top surface of HPL or
vinyl and a bottom surface of GI sheeting.
Its excellent load capacity, antistatic properties, and electrical resistance
make it an ideal false floor type.
It is, however, more expensive than the other false floor variations. The
disadvantage of this type of panel is that it is heavy and difficult to move an
additional load on the building structure.

Perforated Raised Floor Tiles
An air conditioning system with underfloor air distribution typically supplies
cooling air from below and exhausts it into the room when computer
equipment is used. 
The conditioned air must be directed under the computer system using
perforated Raised Floor tiles.

Raised Floor Top Finishes
HPL (High-Pressure Laminated)
The tile's surface is coated with high-pressure laminate (HPL) to provide an
antistatic raised flooring surface. There are several advantages to this type of
surface cover, including scratch resistance, dust resistance, and stain
resistance. The standard thickness is 1.2 mm. and the standard electrical
resistance is 1×108–1×1011 ohms.

Vinyl Cover
A vinyl surface cover is ideal if your main objective is to create a more
capable anti-static raised floor and ensure electrical resistance. Its standard
thickness is 2 mm, and its electrical resistance ranges from 2.5 x 104–1 x 106
ohms. Consequently, this surface covering is ideal for sensitive equipment
areas, such as telecommunications and information technology rooms.
However, this type of cover is not scratch-resistant, heat-resistant, stain-
resistant, or fire-rated.
It is an ideal surface covering for sensitive equipment, such as
telecommunications and information technology rooms.

Bare Finish Raised Floor Tiles
A bare-finish tile will be the most suitable option when using a panel in high-
rise buildings for LGS (Light Gauge System) purposes. Later, this tile’s top
surface is covered with a porcelain or carpet tile. A bare finish tile is cost-
effective that leaves the option for custom finishing according to the theme
and need of the interior.
The Bare finish false floor tile is often used in high-rise buildings, offices,
hallways, lobbies, museums, etc.

False Floor Loading Criteria
According to the PSA MOB PF2 PS and BS/EN12825 UK benchmarks,
different raised floors can bear various weights.
False Floor for Control Room, Server Room, and Data Center
It is generally recommended that PSA heavy grade be used in computer and
control rooms, including data centers. It should deliver 12 kN/m2 UDL and a
4.5 kN point load, with a 3x safety factor applied.

False Floor for Office Building
The weight-bearing standard for false flooring in office buildings is PSA
medium, which carries a uniformly distributed load of 8 kN/m2 and a point
load of 3.0 kN. The loadings are subject to an additional 3x safety factor.
Raised Floor Tile Puller
Raised floor pullers, tile lifters, or suction lifters are tools with a suction
rubber cup. It is easy to remove tiles with a tile puller vacuum suction.
