ABSTRACT
Introduction : Coronavirus Disease-19 (COVID-19) is an infectious disease that has been
declared a world public health emergency, by WHO on 30 January 2020. Elderly people
generally face a higher risk, especially in the elderly with comorbid diseases. With a high
mortality rate, existing risk factors and comorbidities make the elderly population that is
vulnerable to COVID-19. Increasing the knowledge of posbindu cadres on preventing COVID-
19 in the elderly during a pandemic is important to do by means of counseling through social
media.
Objective : Creating counseling media to increase posbindu cadres knowledge about COVID-
19, nutrition and psychology of the elderly in their working area using social media.
Methods : Counseling was given to 30 posbindu cadres in Jatiranggon, Jatisampurna, Bekasi via
WhatsApp group. Counseling was given by competent informants regarding the health and
psychology of the elderly during a pandemic and filling in the pre-test and post-test via Google
Form.
ABSTRACT
Results : Based on the results after providing counseling, there is an increase knowledge
of posbindu cadres. The average value which previously was only 69.67 increased to
80.67 (p=0.002).

Is an infectious disease that has been declared by WHO as a world public

health emergency. The elderly have a higher risk of COVID-19, especially the
(COVID-19) elderly with comorbidities. Along with a weakened immune system, the
elderly are also a group that vulnerable to infectious diseases which are
comorbid factors in the occurrence of COVID-19.
> 95% of deaths from COVID-19 are over the age of 60, and > 50% occur at the
age of 80 or over. Individuals who have comorbidities, at least having one
comorbidity with cardiovascular disease, hypertension and diabetes, but also
with various other chronic conditions.

The prevention of this disease must be further
strengthened. The 2020 Ministry of Health socializes Old (75 - 90 years)
efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the

elderly. One of them, is counseling to increase
posbindu cadres knowledge about COVID-19 of the
elderly.
Introduction
The Indonesian government's way of increasing
community participation in disease prevention and
control is by launching the Posbindu (Integrated
Development Post) program for independent and
continuous control risk factors.
Based on Table 2. The value of p=0.002, which mean there is relation between increasing knowledge and
providing counseling using social media in the form of WhatsApp groups.
Posyandu activities for the elderly are continuously influenced by competent and skilled cadres. The
skills of cadres are obtained through high knowledge gained from training and mentoring. Increasing
the capacity of cadres aims to improve posyandu implementation strategies during the COVID-19
pandemic, increase health promotion and community participation in posbindu activities (Ayu M,
2021) (Hastuti el al., 2019).
