CHAPTER = 4

DATA ANALYSIS & INTERPRETATION

The data themselves provide us with answers to our research questions.

Ordinarily, the amount of data collected in a study is extensive to be reliably described by

mere perusal. In order to answer meaningfully the research questions, the data must be

preceded and analyzed systematically. Analysis is described us categorizing, ordering,

manipulating and summarizing the data to obtain answer to research questions. The

purpose of analysis is to reduce the data to an intelligible and interpretable from so that

relation of research can be studied.

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

“A Study To Assess the Effectiveness of Structured Teaching Program Knowledge


Regarding Prevention Of Household Poisoning In Children (1-12 yr age) Among Mothers In Selected
Rural Area Of Gandhi Nagar Bhopal.”

OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY:

1. To assess the pre-test and post-test knowledge of mothers regarding prevention on

household poisoning in children before and after structured teaching program.

2.To evaluate the effectiveness of structured teaching program on knowledge regarding

prevention of house hold poisonings in children among mothers.

3. To determine the association between pre-test knowledge score of the mother

regarding prevention of house hold poisoning in children and selected demographic

variables.
ORGANIZATION OF THE FINDINGS

The data were organized and presented under the following section:

Section A – Frequency and percentage distribution of socio demographic variables

Section B- Overall level of knowledge regarding prevention on household

poisoning in children among mothers.

Section C – Comparison of pretest and post test knowledge regarding prevention on

household poisoning in children among mothers.

Section D – Effectiveness of structured teaching programme on knowledge

regarding prevention on household poisoning in children among mothers.

Section E- Association between demographic variables and post test knowledge score.

The above graph (Fig 3) depicts information of mothers according to their age. The graph

reveals nearly 17( 28.3%)% of the samples were in the age group of below 20 years , 28(46.7%)

were the age group of 21-30years and 15(25%) were in the age group 31-40 years.

The above graph(Fig 4) depicts information of mothers according to their religion .The graph

reveals 40 (66.7% ) of the samples were Hindus , 6 (10 % ) of the samples were Christians and 14

( 23.3% ) of the samples were of muslims.

The above graph (Fig 5) depicts distribution of mothers based on their

educational status. The graph reveals that 18( 30%) of the samples were of

primary education ,21( 35%) were having secondary education ,17(28.3%)

were graduates and 4 ( 6.7%) are having other educational status .

Frequency distribution of mothers according to their occupation. It has been observed from the
sample that nearly 10(16.7%) mother‟s were of private occupation , 9(15%) were of government
occupation , 16(26.7%) were having semi government occupation , and none of them were self
employed.

sampled mothers 35 (58.3%) were having income less than Rs .

3000 , 16 (26.7 %) were having income Rs .3001 – Rs. 6000 , 9 (15 %)

were having income Rs .6000

– 10000 and no one having income above Rs .10001 .

The above graph (Fig 6) depicts information of mothers according to their type family. It has
been observed that 50 (83.30%) were nuclear family and 10 (16.7%) were joint family.
