The Q 2 Manager
Increasing Effectiveness
5
• People can be faulted on 3 mistakes:
-Inability to prioritise
-Failure to organize around those
priorities
-Lack of discipline in execution
• Pareto Principle

6
Pareto Principle
• The Pareto principle in time management
states that 80 % of results will come from 20
% of your effort. Consequently, being aware
of the Pareto principle can mainly help us set
the right priorities.
• It can help us to focus on activities that will
have the biggest impact in our business and
personal lives.
• The uneven distribution of tasks you do every
day: 20% of your tasks contribute to about
80% of the total success in your organization. 7
• Most people think poor time
management is result of indiscipline
• However, deep down, it is inability to
hold priorities in their hearts and minds
- Habit 2 not internalised.

8
• Quadrant II management aims to manage
our lives:
-From a centre of sound principles
-From a knowledge of our Personal Mission
-With focus on important and urgent
-Maintaining a balance of P/PC

9
• A Quadrant II Organizing tool
need to meet 6 important criteria.
• Coherence: Harmony among vision,
mission, roles, goals, priorities, plans,
desires and discipline.

10
Balance in life and various roles
without neglecting areas such as
health, family, professional
preparation or personal
development.

11
Q II Focus: A tool that encourages
you, motivates you and helps you to
spend time in Q II.
The key is not to prioritise what is on
your schedule, but to schedule your
priorities.
PLAN ON WEEKLY BASIS

12
A “People” Dimension: A
principle-centred person thinks in
terms of effectiveness in dealing
with people.

13
Flexibility: Planning tool should
be your servant not your master.
It should work for you.

14
Portability: Planning tool
should be available to you when
and wherever you want it.

15
16
Quadrant ii organizing
• Identifying roles
• Selecting goals: 2 or 3 important results you
should accomplish in next 7 days
• Scheduling: schedule time for your selected
goals
• Daily adapting: prioritize activities; respond to
the unanticipated
