Free fall

Free fall Free fall is what the object does
when it is under the influence
of one force (gravity).
And the object is moving up or
down.
(With putting the air resistance away)
Warm up If we throw an apple and a
watermelon from the same
height at the same time
which one will fall first?
The both will fall at the same time
For thousands of years scientists
thought that how fast something
Free fall fell depended on how heavy it is,
but in the 16th century
Galileo Galilei suspected that all
subjects, regardless to their mass
fell at the same rate of
acceleration
Galileo, using the available
Free fall instruments to him, he
measured the acceleration that
was duo to gravity on earth at
about 10m/s².
We know now that it is 9.8m/s².
So we wasn’t so far.
Free fall If we threw a ball upward with
problem velocity 10m/s. Find out the
maximum height to the ball will
be.
Using the second equation of motion
(Vf² = Vi²+2ad)
Vi = 10m/s
Free fall
A = -9.8m/s²
problem
Vf = 0m/s
D = ??

(Vf² = Vi²+2ad)
   0  =  100 + 2*-9.8*D
   D  =  5.1 m
