A. Definition of Past Perfect Continuous Tense

Past perfect continuous tenses are tenses or verb forms to express


an action (with a certain duration of time) or an event that has
started and is taking place in the past, but is no longer happening
now

The Past Perfect Continuous Tense describes the action or


circumstance that is continued somewhere in the past and
continuing until another action takes place in the past.

 ( + ) S+had+been+-ing/present participle
 ( - ) S+had+not+been+-ing/present participle.
 ( ? )Had+S+been+-ing/present participle.

Sentence (+) Lia had been walking.


(-) Lia had not been
walking.

Past perfect continuous tense
1. Expressing an action or event that occurred continuously in
the past
2. Telling an action that has occurred and is taking place in the
past until a certain time in the past (referring to an old action)

5. Expressing an action that has been done and happened in the
past

continuous tense are not many, and the most prominent are as
follows:
Past perfect continuous tense often uses the predicate in the form of
tenses in the form of: Had + Been + Present Participle.
