Have you heard of

the art movement

known as
impressionism?
Impressionism art describes a style
of painting developed in France
during the mid-to-late 19th century;
characterizations of the style
include small, visible brushstrokes
that offer the bare impression of
form, unblended color and an
emphasis on the accurate
depiction of natural light.
This painting style
uses vague and
blurry effects.
The painter were able to
offer a subjective view of
their subjects, expressing
their personal
perceptions rather than
creating exact
representations.
Why is it called Impressionism art?

Claude Monet's Impression, Sunrise

(Musée Marmottan Monet, Paris)
exhibited in 1874, gave the Impressionist
movement its name when the critic
Louis Leroy accused it of being a
sketch or “impression,” not a finished
painting.
