INTRODUCTION
An Art Movement is a distinct style,
techniques, or trend that maps a
particular period of cultural
development in the history of art,
followed by a group of artist during
specific period of time.
01 IMPRESSIONISM
In the 2nd half of the 16th century emerged the
impressionism movement. Impressionist artists moved
away from the established practices and discovered
new ways. Theu used pure unmixed colors side by side
using short broken strokes for more visual effects on
subject. They started on something new like capturing
scenes of everyday life like household objects,
seascapes, houses, and ordinary people. They prefered
working outdoor in a natural light incorporating unusual
visual angles, out of proportion objects, subject placed
oo-centered, and empty spaces on the canvas.

EXPRESSIONISM

distorted in order to make it expressive of the
artist’s inner feelings or ideas. They create
works with more essential force, and not
realistic or natural image. To attain this, they
used distorted oulines, unrealistics or
unnatural images. Their works are not
actually what they are in the physical world,
but depend on their imaginations and
feelings.
The different styles that emerged
within the expressionist art
movements:
ØNeopritivism
ØFauvism
ØDadaism
ØSurrealism
ØSocial Realism
Neopritivism
Is an art style combined elements
from the native arts of the South Sea
