Visit To Wular Lake
Wular lake is also known as wolar in kashmir .It is the second largest
fresh water lake in south asia situated on the foothills of haramuk
mountain
.
The main source of water for wular lake is river Jhelum.This lake also has a small island in its
centre called the ZAINA LANK
SIGNIFICANCE OF LAKE
Wular lake plays a significant role in the hydrographic system of the kashmir valley
by acting as huge absorption basin for annual flood water.

Thouands of kashmiris depend on the lakes fish and chestnuts.Lake
SURROUNDINGS
wular is suffering from a massive decline in fish production due to
rising of siltation .The widespread pollution has stunted the fish
community ,conditioning the worst in poverty in the region.
People has also constructed houses there which is giving negative impact to
the environment . Constrution and cutting of trees is hazardous for the
surroundings because there are living animals like sheeps ,horses etc that is
not good for them.Somehow humans need is impacting the place in a negative
way.
