Definition of Narrative Text

Narrative text is a text which contains about fantasy,
fairy tales, or a true story that has been exaggerated. There
is usually a moral to be learned at the end of the story.
Example of narrative text can be folk tales, animal
stories, legends, myths, short stories, comic, cartoon, and
others.

B. The purpose of narrative text

To entertain or to amuse the readers or
listeners about the story.
C. Generic Structure

It is about the opening paragraph where the

characters of the story are introduced.
(Character, place and time)
The conflict development of the story.
The problem is resolved, either in a
. happy ending or in a sad ending.
the discussion of moral values or philosophy
that can be drawn from the story. This part
exists especially in the more complex
narrative. (Optional)

D. Language Features

Use active/ action verbs.

Use past tense.
Use conjunction.
The first person (I or We) or the third person (He, She,
or They).
Use specific participants.
Use adjective and adverbs
Example of the text:
I went to Japan yesterday.
I walked to school everyday.
Example:
I did not go to Japan yesterday.
We did not have time to visit the Eiffel Tower.
Example :
What did you do ?
Did you have a bicycle?
Cinderella Specific Participants

Once upon a time, there

was a little girl called
Cinderella. She was

But she was very poor.
She lived with her step
mother and stepsisters.
They were very mean.
