How To Be

Ungrateful?
2 Timothy 3:1-5
• But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For
people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive,
disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable,
slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless,
swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the
appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people.
Where do we learn or develop ungratefulness?
• At home; the way we were raised by our parents/family
• Outside (influences at work, school and peers)
• Social media (ideas, society standards etc.)
Habits of an Ungrateful Person
1. They Feel Entitled to Everything

• It’s hard to be thankful for something when you feel like it was rightfully yours
to begin with.

• The act of thanking someone for something they already feel inherently entitled
to is actually embarrassing for them because the believe they should’ve had it
already.
2. They Want Everything Immediately

• When you give them something, they don’t take the moment to enjoy or
appreciate it.
• An ungrateful person doesn’t give value I things because they were given it too
easily
• The end-goal isn’t about being happy with what they have; the end-goal is to
simply want once again
Corinthians 4:7
• For who sees anything different in you? What do you have that you did not
receive? If then you received it, why do you boast as if you did not receive it?
3. They Consume Too Much Media
• There’s always something new going on; new trend, new gadgets and other
things that breeds discontentment and ungratefulness which may lead us to
compare our life to the world.

• Proverbs 14:30 - A heart at peace gives life to the body, but envy rots the bones.
4.They Haven’t Worked For Anything In Their
Lives
• It’s hard to be ungrateful when you’ve spend your life supporting yourself,
working long and hard to make sure you can pay the bills and put food on the
table.
• There is no greater way to learn the lesson of how much things are worth than
by struggling to pay those things.

5. They Are Spiritually Disconnected
• Positivity and gratitude come from the same places as spiritual belief and that is
by having a good relationship and connection with God.
