Project Brief
High Speed Authorities

NHSRCL to oversee and ensure

project compliance. Operate the High-
Speed rail.

TCAP is the PMC Engineer verify and

validate designs and construction site
activities. Final authority reporting to
NHSRCL.

D&B is the appointed Contractor to

design and built the works.
The Works
The Works
Civil Works

The Civil Works are the first works

carrying the High Speed trains.
These are separated into three
components:

 FSLM / PSC / Steel Truss / I-girder

NATM/ TBM Tunnels

 Embankment (at grade)

Depots & Workshop
A total of 3 Heavy Maintenance
Workshops at Thane, Surat and
Sabarmati, 6 Maintenence Depots and
24 Sub-Maintenance Depots will serve
as the maintenance bases for the trains.

Depots
The main functions
are to store materials,
equipment and
engineering trains to
maintain the High

subsystem of
permanent way,
traction power,
communications, and
civil infrastructure.
Tracks & Trains

The trains are powered electrically and

supplied by numerous substations along
the line.

are divided into 3
separate systems:

Interface

Interface is categorized in three parts:

 During Design and Construction

 Coordination
 Third Party Access/Handover
During Design and Construction
Internal Interface Parties

 Consist of any internal group [Contractors or Designers]

involved in the design and construction of the project
such as Civil Works, Stations, Depots, Core Systems
(signaling, etc.) and rolling stock.

 The Contractors will be responsible to communicate

directly with the Interfacing Parties and obtain any
information to enable the realization of the works.
NHSRCL SHALL act as the Interfacing Party when a
contract has not been awarded yet (NHSRCL will help
the Contractor to get the correct information)..
Interface
During Design and Construction
 The Contractor must ensure that all works agree with the
Interface Party requirements prior to constructing.
Combined Services Drawings (CSD), Structural
Electrical Mechanical (SEM), Delivery Route Drawings
(DRD) and Interface Demarcation Diagrams (IDD) must
be produced by the Contractor in conjunction with all
relevant Interface

Internal Interface Parties

Methods

The viaducts for Rails are the critical path for

completion. As the viaducts are standard
throughout the project, NHSRCL
“recommends” the Contractors to follow a
certain method of viaduct erection to ensure
feasibility of the works and assurance of
completion on time. The Contractors may wish
to propose alternative erection methods.

The Contractor will prepare Method

Statements to detail his method of works and
inspection strategies. As a minimum
requirement, the Method Statements will
identify:

- Scope of works
- Equipment
- Labor
- Safety plan
The ITPs will detail - Environmental Plan
the sequence of
inspection and - Sequence of works
testing with “hold- - Inspection & Test Plans (ITP)
points” to ensure
- Hazard and risk assessments
the Contractor’s
staff presence upon - Staffing and names

Structure Certification

 The bulk of the works will be carried out by

Subcontractors, therefore the Contractor will
require rigid “surveillance” of the Subcontractors to
ensure proper implementation of the Method
Statements and Inspection & Test Plans and
realization of the works.
Contractors Lead
Inspectors (LI) will be
assigned for every Work
Contractor Fronts to ensure proper
supervision of the
Contractor’s construction
team and of the
Subcontractors works. The
Contractor would expect
approximately 30~40 LI. The
Subcontractor LI will also maintain records
of all activities.

 Lead Inspectors: Structure Certification

Lead Inspectors will maintain all compliance records

and provide enough evidence to allow certification of
the structures.

 Monthly Certification:
The Contractor’s Monthly Report will include:
- Design QA Manager certifying that all design activities
during the month comply with Contract requirements.
- Quality Control Manager certifying that the structures
and materials comply with Contract requirements.
- Quality Manager confirming that all works considered
completed are compliant.

 Final Certification:
The Quality Control Manager has the final authority at the
end of the Project to certify the completeness and
compliance of the structures. Therefore the Quality
Control Manager must establish a proper certification
system as works progress.
