CELLULAR

RESPIRATION
 Cellular respiration is a
process that takes place
inside the cells where
energy is released by the
CELLULAR breakdown of glucose
RESPIRATION molecules.
 The process can be divided
into two categories based on
the usage of oxygen, namely
aerobic and anaerobic.
Glucose + Oxygen 
AEROBIC
RESPIRATION Carbon Dioxide +
Water + Energy
 a process of cellular
respiration that uses
oxygen to produce energy
from food
AEROBIC  gases are exchanged in
RESPIRATION
this form of respiration
It can be found in the
cytoplasm and the
mitochondria
 glucose breaks down
into carbon dioxide and
AEROBIC water
RESPIRATION All higher organisms
such as mammals have
this type of respiration
Glucose 
ANAEROBIC
RESPIRATION Lactic Acid +
Energy
 a type of cellular
respiration that does not
use oxygen to produce
ANAEROBIC energy
RESPIRATION
 it can only be found in
cytoplasm
 Glucose breaks down
into ethyl alcohol and
energy
 Lower organisms such
ANAEROBIC
as bacteria and yeast use
RESPIRATION
this type. In other
organisms, it occurs
during heavy activities.
