RESPIRATION
Cellular respiration is a
process that takes place
inside the cells where
energy is released by the
CELLULAR breakdown of glucose
RESPIRATION molecules.
The process can be divided
into two categories based on
the usage of oxygen, namely
aerobic and anaerobic.
Glucose + Oxygen
AEROBIC
RESPIRATION Carbon Dioxide +
Water + Energy
a process of cellular
respiration that uses
oxygen to produce energy
from food
AEROBIC gases are exchanged in
RESPIRATION
this form of respiration
It can be found in the
cytoplasm and the
mitochondria
glucose breaks down
into carbon dioxide and
AEROBIC water
RESPIRATION All higher organisms
such as mammals have
this type of respiration
Glucose
ANAEROBIC
RESPIRATION Lactic Acid +
Energy
a type of cellular
respiration that does not
use oxygen to produce
ANAEROBIC energy
RESPIRATION
it can only be found in
cytoplasm
Glucose breaks down
into ethyl alcohol and
energy
Lower organisms such
ANAEROBIC
as bacteria and yeast use
RESPIRATION
this type. In other
organisms, it occurs
during heavy activities.
