EXPRESSING INTENTION

What is Expressing Intention ?

• Expressing intention is an expression that is used to
state plans or something intended to do in the future.
The Structure of Expressing Intention :
• Would Like :
Subject ( They, we, I, You, She, He, IT) + Would Like to
+ V1 + …..

• Will :
Subject ( They, we, I, You, She, He, IT) +  will + V1 + …..

• Going To :
Subject ( They, we, I, You, She, He, IT) + is/am/are going to
 + V1 + …..
 Explanation :
• Would Like to is ussed to tell our dreams or
intention .

Pola umum/Pattern : S + Would like to + V1.

Example : I would like to arrive at school on

time.
• Be Going to is construction when we have the
intention to do something before we speak or we
have already made a decision before speaking.

Pola umum/Pattern :
S + be (is, am, are) + going to + V1

Example : My mom and I are going to

go shopping on Sunday. 
• Will is ussed to express a spontaneous intention
made at the moment of speaking. Normally
“Will” is used to show future facts or prediction.

Pola umum/Pattern : S + Will + V1

Example : I will pick up you tonight.

Example of Asking Intention :

• What are you going to do this weekend ?

• What will you do tomorrow ?
• Are you going to Bandung ?
• Will you come to my house ?
 Example of Expressing Intention :

• I am going to ….
• I am planning to ….
• I will make an effort to ….
• I am thinking of …..
Conversation :
Sari            : Hello Ardi, what are you going to do this weekend?
Ardi           : Hello, I am going to visit my grandmother in Jakarta. How
about you?
Sari            : Well, I still do not have any plan for the weekend.
Ardi           : Why don’t you go to museum?
Sari           : That is a good idea. But, I have to do my assignment
first. Have you done your assignment?
Ardi           : No, I have not, I’d like to do them this evening.
Sari            : Well, can we do together?
Ardi           : Yes, of course.
Sari            : Okay, great. I will go to your house at 4 P.M then.
Ardi           : I will be waiting for.
