VERTIGO

• WHAT IS VERTIGO?
Vertigo is a symptom, rather than a condition itself. It's the
sensation that you, or the environment around you,
is moving or spinning. This feeling may be barely noticeable,
or it may be so severe that you find it difficult to keep your
balance and do everyday tasks

• Vertigo BPPV, UVH, Unilateral central lesion affecting
the vestibular nuclei
• Lightheadedness OHT, Hypoglycemia, Anxiety
• Dysequilibrium BVH, decreased somatosensation,
weakness in LE
• Oscillopsia VOR

• Visual analogue scale
• Dizziness handicap inventory
• Functional disability scale
• Motion sensitivity quotient
• Dix-hallpike test
Physiotherapy Management
• Canlalith maneuver (Epply’s) for posterior or anterior
semicircular canal
• Liberatory maneuver (Semont) for posterior semicircular
canal
• Brandt-Daroff maneuver for posterior semicircular canal
• Gaze stability exercises
• Balance exercises

• Stand with feet shoulder with apart, arms across the chest
• Practice ankle sways anterior-posterior and meadial-lateral
• Attempt to walk with heel touching toe on firm surface
• Practice five steps walking and turning 180°
• Walk and move the head side to side, up and down.
