Maintenance Schedule of fire pumps

Daily
1.All the fire pumps shall be run at least 5
minutes. During testing water level of
priming tank, delivery pressures of
pumps, speed and also other parameters
are to be checked and recorded.
2.In case of diesel engine fuel tank,
starting mechanism must be checked;
the battery charger and also the
batteries must be maintained in
effective condition.

Weekly
1.All pump glands shall be maintained in
good working conditions and checked.
2.The bearing grease caps shall be
checked and refilled with fresh grease, if
necessary.
3.Starter contacts shall be cleaned every
week.
4.Gland packing of the pump to be
checked.
5.Engine needed to be lubricated.

Quarterly

Six monthly
Insulation resistance of pump
motors shall be examined and
record shall be maintained.

1.Flow test of pump to be carried
out.
2.Load testing of the engine.

Overhauling of the pump
