Animal Parts

• Most mammals have their bodies covered in fur (not hair)

• And they usually have tails


• Fish, reptiles and birds also have tails…

• But they don’t have fur.


• Birds have feathers.
• Fish and reptiles have scales.
• Mammals legs usually end in paws.

• Or you can call them claws if they have sharp nails.


• Some birds also have claws and they use them for hunting.

• Wolverine also has claws


• Some other mammals’ legs end in hooves.

• On their heads, some mammals have horns.


• Others have antlers.
• In their mouths some mammals have fangs
• Snakes have fangs
too.

• Other mammals have tusks.


• Only two mammals have a trunk:
• Elephants and tapirs.
• Lions and horses have
manes.

• But only camels and dromedaries


have humps.
• Fish use their fins to move.

• Some mammals have them too.

• And if you thought only birds


had beaks (a.k.a. bills)
• You were wrong
• Most birds use their wings to fly.

• Some mammals and fish also have wings.

• But instead of flying, they glide.
