Political Sensitive Language

Political Sentive
Language

refers to language reflecting awareness

and sensitivity to another person's physical,
mental, cultural, or other disadvantages or
deviations from a norm.
Political Sentive
Language

Aside from that it is also the ability to put

oneself in a politician’s shoes, to distinguish the
complexity of interests in politics, and to assess
the feasibility of political proposals.
It is defined somehow as: the
avoidance of forms of expression or
action that are perceived to exclude,
marginalize, or insult groups of people
who are socially disadvantaged or
discriminated against.
EXAMPLES
TABOO
Taboo
The term taboo language refers to words and
phrases that are generally considered
inappropriate in certain contexts. It is also a social
or religious custom prohibiting or forbidding
discussion of a particular practice or forbidding
association with a particular person, place, or
thing.
Social anthropologist Edmund Leach identified three major
categories of taboo words and phrases in English:
1. "Dirty" words that are concerned with sex and excretion,
such as "bugger," "shit."
2. Words that have to do with the Christian religion, such as
"Christ" and "Jesus."
3. Words which are used in "animal abuse" (calling a person by
the name of an animal), such as "bitch," "cow."
The fact that a behavior is taboo
doesn’t mean that it doesn’t occur. People
who engage in taboo activities typically
attempt to do so in secret, often going to
great lengths to hide it.
cannibalism - a human being eating the flesh of another human being
drinking alcohol during pregnancy - consuming alcohol while pregnant is
considered taboo
incest - sexual relations between close relatives; different cultures have different
definitions of how close a relative would be considered taboo
infanticide - killing an infant
intermarriage - marriage between people who are closely related by blood; in some
cultures, this also means marriage outside of one’s class, race or ethnicity
masturbation - manipulation of one's own genitalia
abortion - terminating a pregnancy
addiction - use of illegal drugs or abuse of prescription drugs or
alcohol
adultery - sexual intercourse with someone other than your
spouse
