Exceptional Children

An exceptional child is one who deviates


from the normal child in mental, physical,
emotional, and social characteristics to an
extent that he requires special educational
services. He may far above or extremely
below the average.
Types of Educational Children
Mental Exceptional Children
They include: the gifted, slow
learner, and the backward children.

Physically Exceptional Children


They include: the blind, dump, deaf,
and crippled children.

Emotionally Exceptional Children


They include delinquents

Socially Handicapped children


They include the under Privileged

Multi Handicapped Children


They include children having more
than one detect.

Under achiever

Under achiever means the


achievement of a person below
is level if intelligence. Their
performance is not promising.
Their study habits may be poor
and self confidence low.
Physically Handicapped Children

to children with physical
disabilities or sensory
impairments, learning
and/or behavior problems,
and children with superior
intellectual abilities and/or
special talents (Heward,
2014).
Emotionally exceptional children
Deliquent Child
Characteristics of deliquent child:
1. Indecent behavior
2. Violation of law
3. Telling lies
4. Poor social skills
5. aggressiveness
Socially Handicapped Children
● As compared with normal
children, socially-
handicapped ones
are emotionally unstable,
although they are the
same as normal children
in their sense of
dominancy, responsibility,
sociality, and confidence.
Multi Handicapped Children

● Multi handicapped refers to a person


that has more than one disabling
condition. The disability may be in
the category of autism, mental
retardation, hearing impairment or
deafness, visual impairment or
blindness, emotional disturbance,
speech and language impairment,
orthopedic impairment, or health
impairment.
