PROCEDURE IN DRAFTING THE
PRINCESS CUT DRESS
Draw perpendicular lines then mark the
corner point A
AB = bodice length
AC = full bodice length
AD = 1/4 bust measurement + 1/2 inch
BB’ = AD CC’ = AD
AE = 1/2 shoulder point width
EF = measure 1/2 inch going to your left
AG = 3-5 inches
EH = 1 1/2 inches downward
HI = measure 4 inches downward inline with
point F
DK = 9-10 inches
AJ = 3-5 inches
Connect point H to point I to point K with a
french curve
BL = 1/4 waist measurement +1/2 inch
CM = 1/2 of bottom width
Connect point K to point L with hip curve
Connect point L to point M with a meter stick
MM’ = measure 1/2 inch upward
Connect point C to point M’ with hip curve
Get the midpoint of point G to point H then
mark it point 1
Get the midpoint of point B to point B2 then
mark it point 2
Get the midpoint of point C to M then mark it
point 3
AA’ = 1/2 inch downward
II’ = 1/2 inch to the right
