Acceleration due to gravity is the

acceleration gained by an object due to

gravitational force. Its SI unit is m/s2. It
has both magnitude and direction,
hence, it's a vector quantity. Acceleration
due to gravity is represented by g. The
standard value of g on the surface of
the earth at sea level is 9.8 m/s2

DESCRIBING MOTION IN TERMS OF DIAGRAM

MOTION
is a continuous change in position
of an object with respect to reference
point for a particular time interval.

Motion graphs are useful and effective tools in visually

presenting the motion of objects.

• The slope is the slant or angle of the line in the graph.

• The shape of the line on the graph whether straight, curved,

or steeply sloped have different interpretations with
regards to the motion of the object. In mathematical
meaning, the slope of a line is the rise over the run, or the
change in y divided by the change in x.
POSITION-TIME
GRAPHS
Position-time graphs are
motion graphs that show
a change in an object’s
location over time. In this
type of graph, time is
always plotted on the x-
axis and the position is
plotted on the y-axis.
