DESCRIPTION
Communication – A process of passing any information, plans, ideas, and feelings among
people.
In this process, the person who sends the information is knowns as the sender and the person
who receives it is called the receiver.
In other words, communication is a simple process where the sender sends the information to
the receiver.
TYPES OF COMMUNICATION SKILLS
VERBAL COMMUNICATION – It is a communication which consists of spoken
words, any kind of speech, body language, and written communication . It
includes oral communication , such as speaking to others through telephones,
face-to-face discussions , interviews and presentations. It can be described in
emails and letters in the form of written communication.

NON – VERBAL COMMUNICATION – Any communication with unspoken word is


known as non-verbal communication. It’s produced by body language, facial
expressions , body postures and tone of words.

Effective communication is exchanging thoughts and knowledge so that the message is received and understood with
clarity. Both the sender and receiver feel satisfied when we communicate effectively.
For communication to be effective, it must be clear , correct, complete and concise.

 Be an active listener- To be a good communicator, you first have to listen well. Give a person your
full attention, hear what they’re saying and consider their thoughts. In this way , you also improve on
how to communicate back well.
 Speak up about your thoughts and ideas- Just like it’s important to understand what others are
seeking, make sure that you’re expressing your own needs. If you’re an open communicator, you’re
setting an example for everyone else to do the same.
 Maintain eye contact –Whenever speaking to a crowd or another individual, maintaining eye contact
builds credibility and demonstrates you care about your listeners.
Be clear – While you are communicating, make sure you are doing clearly without any misunderstanding.
This can make more easy to understand what you are saying.

Learn and observe - BY observing how people act, react and speak, and learn their interaction, you will
be able to respond in a better way to them , and can have more meaningful conversations.
