Conditional statements are
ideas expressed as “if-then”
statements. The “if” part is the
hypothesis and the “then” part
is the conclusion.
Conditionals are formed
by joining two statements,
p and q, with the words if
and then:
If p, then q.
p-statement: I hate names that starts
with S.
q- statement: I hate you.
Conditional statement:
If I hate names that starts with S,
then I hate you.
Example:
p-statement: Two lines intersect.
q- statement: Two lines intersect at a point.
Conditional: If two lines intersect, then
they intersect at a point.
All right angles are congruent.
To express this in if-then form, try using the subject of the sentence to form
the hypothesis and the predicate of the sentence to form the conclusion.
