Electromagnets and electromagnetic force

What are electromagnets?

Electromagnets are magnets that can be switched on and off. The magnetic force
produced by it can be controlled by the amount of electric current on it.
How to make an electromagnet?

To make an electromagnet you have to get a metallic or a magnetic object that is

called core and make a coil of wire around it which is called solenoid. Then you
have to make an electric circuit connecting the wire to a switch and a battery.
How to control the strength of the electromagnet?
 The number of turns on the coil around the core strengthen the electromagnet
 More electrical current gives a stronger electromagnet
 The type of core, using a more magnetic material in the core will make a stronger
electromagnet
Where can we use electromagnet?
Electromagnets are widely used as components of other electrical devices, such
as motors, generators, electromechanical solenoids, relays, loudspeakers, hard disks, MRI
machines, scientific instruments, and magnetic separation equipment. Electromagnets are also
employed in industry for picking up and moving heavy iron objects such as scrap iron and
steel.
