IMPERATIVES
 Imperatives are verbs used to give
directions or instructions.
 Commands are also known as the
imperative.
 It has negative form:
do + not + verb (base form)
• Do not react.
• Do not retaliate.
• Do not walk into trouble.
 Prepositions are also used in giving
instructions.
(into, by way of, to, out of)
• Walk from the bank to the station.
• Find a store opposite the bus stop.
• Move toward the window.
 If there are a number of steps in your
instructions ,use the sequence markers .
• First, put on the special shoes.
• Then, choose the correct size ball.
• Next, swing the ball behind you.
• After that, roll the ball down the center.
• Finally, try and knock down all the pins.
