● Give a brief overview of what the literature is about so that
early on, you are already providing your readers with a glimpse
of the specific area of study that you intend to explore.

● Establish a certain set of criteria in selecting related literature to


enable you to review the literature that is most relevant and
significant to your study.

● Specify your assumptions and arguments.
