Wellness Sensors Networks: A Proposal and Implementation for Health and
Life care

In this research I aim to develop a new protocol of wireless sensor

networks which will be applicable in a Smart home environment to
provide a safe, sound and secured living environments for the
inhabitant. The developed protocol will quantitatively provide
(forecast) wellness of the inhabitant. The protocol will be for single-
occupancy or double occupancy inhabitants. Our research approach
is to design and develop reliable, efficient, flexible, economical,
real-time and realistic wellness sensors networks for smart home
system. The protocol will be somewhat different with respect to
existing protocols as it will address the complexity, data storage
problem and near real time streaming.

2
Issues in Past system
a. The protocol used was a generalized protocol
b. The protocol provides possibility of adding a huge number of
nodes (65,535), forcing to use a lot of data for device
identification
c. The routing protocol was designed by the manufacturer
(proprietary protocol), not allowing to include anything of our
own
d. The ZigBee is not able to process any data
e. The header data is too large
f. A huge amount of data are transmitted and creating a problem
g. The sampling and storage was also a big issue.

3
Problem solution:
 What is the solution? To devise a New protocol
 Why we need new protocol?
• ZigBee is well known for environmental monitoring of
relatively large area but not customized for smart home.
• Event and priority based context aware wellness protocol
• This will resolve the extra header information problem
• Delay time will be reduced, especially accessing data from a
remote website
• Amount of Data can be reduced
• Important information without overloading the system can be
stored
• Packet reliability will improve
