INTRODUCTION:

• The automotive industry in India is facing headwinds from a general economic

downturn to the need to improve emissions performance and the impending shift to
electrification.
• This research project is a key for understanding consumer’s approach towards
electric vehicles and also the impact of electric vehicles on Indian Automobile
Industry.
• This research projects also helps in understanding how the penetration of Electric
vehicles will impact the Indian Automobile Industry and the determinants which
affect the consumers preference towards electric vehicles.
OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY:
• To study the perceptions and expectations of potential for alternative technologies in
automobiles such as electric vehicles
• To study the willingness of buyers of considering electric vehicles as a practical
commuting option and at when
• To study the maximum price consumers can afford for buying an electric vehicle
• To study the government initiatives taken for promoting electric vehicles and
subsidies provided on electric vehicle batteries
• To study the current expectations of consumers with respect to electric vehicles, this
will lead to its potential for future
• To study the current threats, that is causing the slow growth of electric vehicles
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY:
• Primary data was collected from all the individuals who own a four wheeler and had
a basic knowledge about electric vehicles.
• Target population were all adult individuals irrespective of their age or profession .
• The focused group were the people falling in the age group of 18 to 40 years.
• Total respondents were 100 individuals.
• The data was collected with the help of Questionnaire method.
SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY:
• Aspects related to global warming needs a shift to automobile solutions that reduce /
do not produce greenhouse gas emissions. If electric vehicles run on electricity
produced from non-polluting sources of energy like hydro, solar, wind, tidal and
nuclear, they reduce emissions due to vehicles almost to zero.
• For India's sustainable green planet goal, a robust push in cleaner mobility is
essential. Only Electric Vehicles can do this.
• Air quality indices related to India indicate that the air in many cities of India is no
longer healthy. Automobile related pollution has been one of the causes for this.
• Electric vehicles save energy by regenerative braking. Around 30%-70% of the
energy used for propulsion can be recovered, with higher percentages applicable to
stop-and-go city driving.
DATA ANALYSIS:
• IN YOUR OPINION, WHAT INFLUENCE HAS AN ELECTRIC VEHICLE
UPON YOU?

Interpretation:
The influence of electric vehicles on consumers is
mostly positive. It is understood that 54% of the
people had a positive influence about electric
vehicles where as 42% were neutral about it and
lastly 4% of the respondents had a negative
influence in regard to electric vehicles.
DATA ANALYSIS:
• WHAT FACTORS ENCOURAGE YOU TO CONSIDER BUYING AN
ELECTRIC VEHICLE?

Interpretation:
People tend to buy electric vehicles for various
reasons. It is understood that 38% of
respondents are willing to purchase a electric
vehicle for its new technology. Whereas 50% of
respondents purchase an EV for its positive
environmental effects. Around 6% of
respondents purchase EV for its low noise level
and the last 6% of respondents purchase EV as
it is a new trend in market.
CONCLUSION AND SUGGESTIONS:
• At present electric vehicles are comparatively new to the automobile market but they
have huge potential in them to rule the market in future.
• The people are mostly aware about electric vehicles but they still prefer to have more
consumer choices and price to be reduced slightly.
• People should be made aware about electric vehicles and how they help in protecting
environment and how fuel cars impact the environment negatively.
