RESEARCH PROBLEM

Mango anthracnose is regarded as a major post-harvest disease

responsible for reducing the shelf-life of mangoes in the Philippines (Jenny
et al., 2019).
Highlights

This chapter will highlight on the importance of the disease on the mango
industry in Philippines, control strategies currently employed thereby
reducing the over-reliance on chemical control option that leads to public
health and environmental threat. This leads us to our great interest to propose
ways to minimize the effect of the disease in the country, using extracts of
calamansi as an alternative control based on less polluting and safer
strategies.
Research Objectives
This study intends to determine the efficacy of calamansi (Citrus X Microcarpa)
as a substitute fungicide against mango anthracnose (Colletotrichum
Gloeosporioides). These are the following aims for this study:

• To apply Citrus x Microcarpa as an alternative fungicide for

mango anthracnose

• To study the antifungal activity of Citrus x Microcarpa

• To manage mango losses and improve quality by using Citrus x

Microcarpa
