DESIGN OF A MOTORIZED
DOMESTIC WASTE
COMPACTOR

BY GROUP THREE
Principle of Operation

 Gear mechanism
• INTRODUCTION

 A prototype of a system utilizing garbage compactor a motorized

component is produced to facilitate waste management, whereby,
garbage has to be compressed in order to free up space to enable
binding of the garbage bag. Therefore, the purpose of the design is
to replace manpower with electrical power so as to reduce the work
load in managing garbage. The Compactor will operate through
motorized systems by using switches and linear actuators will be
key component used in the design of the motorized domestic waste
compactor.
• NEED FOR THE EQUIPMENT
 To improve the waste management process and improve the
quality of the environment.
 To reduce cost of waste management.
 To reduce human effort of handling waste effectively.
•DESIGN CONSIDERATIONS
Note:
V = Volume; L = length;
W = Width; H= height;
Φi = Inner diameter; Φo = Outer diameter;
R = Radius; t = thickness;
TR = No of teeth on the bigger gear;
Tr = No of teeth on the smaller gear;
Ti = Internal threading of the Smaller gear
