 SIWES INTRODUCTION

• Students’ Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) also known as Industrial Training (IT)

refers to the exposure of students in higher institutions to real life practical experiences and

technical know-how in their respective chosen discipline(s).

• The incorporation of SIWES into the curriculum in institutions of higher learning has helped in the

areas of developing our human resources in Nigeria.

• This scheme has also helped to bridge the gap between theory and practical training thereby

preparing the students for life outside the school environment.

During the course of the training, they taught me many things related to my specialization listed

 Sachet Water Production

 Basic steps in the pretreatment of water in the production of pure water show as Borehole,

Aeration tank, Dosing tank, Treating plant, Holding tank, Ultra violet water sterilizer, Micron filter

(0.5, 1.0, 5.0 and carbon filter), Automated liquid machine.

 SACHET WATER PRODUCTION
Water sachets or sachet water is a common form of selling pre-filtered or sanitized water in plastic,

heat sealed bags in parts of the global south, and are especially popular in Africa. Water sachets are

cheaper to produce than plastic bottles, and easier to transport. In some countries, water vendors refer

to sachet water as "pure water". A woman drinking from a plastic sachet.

Sachet water production is a product that passes through many processes both the internal and external

process before been obtained as a well hygienic sachet water

 PROCEDURE
• Water passed from its source (Bore hole) to a tank called aeration tank through a pipe
• After that is then passed into another tank called Dosing Tank through a pipe
• It also passed into the treatment plant (Sand & Carbon) through a pipe
• After that is then passed into the Holding tank via a pipe
• The water is then passed into the micron filter (0.5, 1, & carbon) via a pipe
• After that the water is then passed into the ultra-violet water sterilizer
• After that is then passed to the Liquid Packaging Machine which is the last method before is
been achieved as a Sachet water/pure water

 CONCLUSION

Student Industrial work experience scheme(SIWES) at Creator Sachet Water was a huge success

and a great time of acquisition of knowledge and skills. Through my training I was able to

appreciate my chosen course of study even more, because I had the opportunity to blend the

theoretical knowledge acquired from school with the practical hands-on application of knowledge

gained here to perform very important tasks that contributed in a way to my productivity in the

pure water making.

 RECOMMENDATION
The SIWES is a good initiative but also with its own challenge. Based on the experience, I

believe the following recommendations would be helpful if properly carried out. The university

should advice student on choice of company because some students are money minded than the

supposed knowledge. Proper monitoring should be given to the students by the university

management.
