GENERAL CONSTRUCTION
1.CHEVRON CUTTING
• Chevron cutting occur during “wheel spin-up”
landing on a runway which has cross groove
cuts. Replace the tires with chevron cuts if
The fabric in view is more than 700 mm2(1.0 in2)
The chevron cuts area is more than the thread
footprint
The chevron cut continues below a tread rib
• If the damages beyond the limit given replace
the tires. Follow procedures in IETP.
2. THREAD CHUNKING
• The thread chunk occurs during aircraft tight turn,
fast taxiing speeds, or during operations on
runways which have hard rough or unprepared
surface. Replace the tires with tread chunks if
You can see more than 700 mm2 (1.0 in2) of tread
chunk on a tread rib
The fabric in view is more than 700 mm2 (1.0 in2)
The tread chunk damage continues below a tread
rib
• If the damages beyond the limit given replace the
tires. Follow procedures in IETP.
3. CUT DAMAGE
• Unwanted objects caught on the runway surface
can caused tread or sidewall cuts on tires. Replace
the damaged tires if
The cuts are into the tire case plies
The cuts have a depth in the tread which is 50%
or more than the tread depth in that time
The cuts are more than 35mm (1.4in) or 50% of
each tread rib
You can see the casing cords when you try to
open the cut
• It is possible to repair small cuts in the casing
plieas before re-tread procedure of the damaged
tire. Send the tire with small cuts to the
authorized supplier for the inspection and repair.
• If the damages that you find are more than the
given limits, replace the tires.

7.SHOULDER WEAR
• The ground operations with a low tire
inflation cause shoulder worn areas. Too
much deflection of the tire sidewall increases
tire temperature whose result is the tire
component separation or tire burst. Replace
the damaged tires if
You found the tire in low inflation condition
(pressure decreases below the permitted
limit)
The tire wear is more than the permitted
wear limit.
9.LATERAL SCORING
• Landing during a strong cross wind gusts,
cause scoring and striations across the tire
tread. The tire gets the same damage during
tight turns. This damage can cause tear areas
between the tread and its support. These tear
areas let separation of tire components
during its operative life.
• Replace the related tire/tires which have too
large tread chunking or undercutting of tread
ribs.
10.SIDEWALL CRACKING
• Too much deflection of the tire sidewall or the
tire ageing causes pread cracks on the
sidewall. You can see this type of damage on
tires which had an incorrect storage
condition. When tires are in service, this
damage occurs because the aircraft is parked
under sun rays very often without applicable
protections.
• Replace the damage tire only if you can see
fabric cords through the cracks in the
sidewall.
