What is the movie about?

“Bonifacio: Ang Unang Pangulo” is a

historical action epic that brings to light the
powerful, true-to-life story of Filipino
revolutionary Andres Bonifacio–one of our
country's national heroes–with his virtues and
humanity, unfolding through the eyes of a young
man in this day and age. It is the movie that
young people should watch to know the side of
Andres Bonifacio's story. A meaningful film that
will bring our Filipinos to life to look back on
our past and to remind us how we achieved
freedom. A film that truly captures our
patriotism. A significant masterpiece that should
not be missed this season.

What is your favorite line. Why?

“Pinapatay na ang mga kapwa natin kung saan saan Andres.

Oo, babae ako. Pero kaya kong lumaban.”
-Gregoria De Jesus

In the film, the role of women in the rebellion is clearly shown. The

when he opened the barn and slaughtered his animals. He is like that
rich and generous. Also seen in the scenes of Vina Morales as Gregoria
de Jesus or Oriang who is far from being "Maria Clara" who is weak and
will only follow Lakambini of Katipunan. He was seen wanting to assert
his love with Andres (Which he did when his parents forbade him to see
Andres, he wrote to the gobernadorcillo of Tondo who reports here and
shows a desire to marry Andres). Also shown Oriang who joins the
Katipunan because the organization has a women's branch. Can't be beat
the performance of Vina Morales here because the character did justice
to Oriang's personality.

Make a short Introduction and Conclusion
Introduction:
The true story of Andres Bonifacio, a man who rose as a leader in the fight
against the Spanish oppressors, and would gain the enmity of even those
fighting for the same cause. Bonifacio: Ang Unang Pangulo (2014) Directed
by Enzo Williams
Cast: Robin Padilla as Andres Bonifacio
Vina Morales as Oriang
Eddie Garcia as Museum of Philippine Political History curator
Daniel Padilla as Joaquin Click icon to add picture
Jasmine Curtis-Smith as Andrea
RJ Padilla as Gary.

"Bonifacio" starts with a graphic scene showing the execution of the

priests Gomez, Zamora and Burgos (Isko Moreno) by garotte. From there
the story would shuttle back and forth from present day to past. Historical
scenes were shown as students (Daniel Padilla and Jasmine Curtis-Smith)
learn more details about the Revolution from an elderly museum curator
(Eddie Garcia). We see the essential events as we have learned them from
our history textbooks. Bonifacio (Robin Padilla) met Rizal (Jericho Rosales)
when La Liga Filipina was formed. Bonifacio established the Katipunan
when the La Liga was discovered and Rizal arrested.

Conclusion:
It's always nice to see historical films about people and
places I know very little about and Enzo Williams has put
together a very well thought out and heartfelt film about an
unsung hero of the Philippines. What I enjoyed most was the epic
feel of the movie thanks to some smart camera work and a
sweeping score that really sets the tone and raises the stakes for
all the drama that unfolds. That being said, I actually would have
liked to have seen more of Bonifacio's personal life and his
relationship with his wife Oriang who is portrayed nicely by an
underused Vina Morales. While we see how they meet and a little
of how they fall in love, there isn't much else there as the focus
turns completely to the war and political infighting. I got the idea
that she was very important to Bonifacio and the decisions he
ultimately made.

Make a short Reflection on this specific
activity
This story showed how people love and care our country and that
they are willing to sacrifice their life for the greater mass rather for
their own benefit. They are willing to shed tears, loss a lot of blood,
and even die just to recover our property and regain our rights in our
very own country. It can be seen that it is really hard to fight against
the Spaniards because they are ahead many points than the Katipunans.
With their great weapons like riffle and cannons is nothing matched to
the swords that the Katipunans only have. Nevertheless, they didn’t
allow their selves to lose against the Spaniards because of their strong

sense of courage and unity that they used as their main weapon.
It is really true that faith is really being tested during the worst
moment that people are encountering in their lives. Like when Andres
Bonifacio’s life was tested when his home was burned in the fire and
when his child died. That despite all of the good deeds that he is doing
for the country, the only thing that he received in return is these. Some
people may think that he cannot fight for the country because he
himself cannot protect his loved ones. But he didn’t let that thought to
perceive the mind of the people because he used these as his
motivation to fight for our country. I really appreciate him because
regardless of all the things that he is experiencing to his life, he still
managed to hold the hands of our God and give his destiny to his will.

Andres Bonifacio: Ang Unang Pangulo 7

It is really shaming that political animals exist even before and it
is saddening because this is the reason why Andres Bonifacio died. He
bravely fought the Spaniards despite the harm that is waiting to him,
just for our country and for the betterment of the people and yet these
people only betrayed him and kill him. It symbolizes that the true
enemy here is not the colonizer but the Filipinos who only want greed,
power and wealth for the sake of their own interest.

This story deserves to be known by all of the people especially

the Filipinos so that they can be thankful to the noble acts of the people
who sacrifice their only life for our motherland. Their life is well
appreciated and their bravery will always remain in our mind and
heart. This movie is an open call for those people whose spirits in their
nationalism is still sleeping. It’s time to open their soul about the love
for our country because our country symbolizes our right, dignity, and
freedom.
