INTRODUCTION
• Dynamic steering is a car safety technique that corrects the rate of hydraulic or
electric power steering system to adapt it to vehicle’s speed and road
conditions.
• Dynamic steering is also known as Four wheel steering is a system employed
by vehicles that allows the rear wheels to turn for maneuvering, rather than just
follow the front wheels.
• At lower speeds, turning the rear wheels in the opposite direction to the front
wheels results in a smaller turning radius and faster cornering responses. At
high speeds, turning all four wheels in concert improves high-speed stability.

WORKING
• Dynamic Steering is essentially an advanced form of power steering designed
to improve the ease and comfort of driving a heavy-duty vehicle.
• The central component of dynamic steering is a superposition gear integrated
into the steering column and driven by an electric motor. The so-called
harmonic drive was originally developed for robotics and space flight. The unit
is compact, light and torsion-resistant, and reacts free of play, precisely, and
with low friction. The harmonic drive can transmit immense amounts of torque
extremely quickly and is very efficient.

TYPES OF DYNAMIC STEERING
• MECHANICAL FOUR WHEEL STEERING

• HYDRAULIC FOUR WHEEL STEERING

• ELECTRO/HYDRAULIC FOUR WHEEL STEERIN

TYPES
1.Mechanical four wheel steering
• The mechanical dynamic steering uses two separate steering gears to control the
front and rear wheels.
• This mechanical dynamic steering is the oldest type of steering.

TYPES
2. Hydraulic four wheel steering
• The hydraulic dynamic steering uses a two-way hydraulic cylinder to turn both
the wheels in the same direction.
• The rear wheels turn only in the same direction as the front wheels.

TYPES
3.Electro hydraulic four wheel steering
• The electro/hydraulic Dynamic steering combine computer electronic controls
with hydraulics to make the system sensitive to both steering angle and road
speeds.
• Electro hydraulic power steering system can generate bigger power then a pure
electric power steering system.

ADVANTAGES
• Requires less steering input for corrections.
•Improves directional stability.
•Lighter steering.
• Less surface disturbances from road.
•Reduces effecting turning radius.
•Good parking assistance and easier to reverse.

DISADVANTAGES
•It is complex and expensive.
•More maintenance cost.
•The linkages are extremely complicated.
•More components means more weight of the vehicle.

CONCLUSION
• Dynamic steering reduces the mental and physical relief to the drivers who
drives continuously.
• It reduces 20% of the turning radius when their turnings and also it self adjust
the steering wheel when there are bumps and pit holes it gives more comfort to
the driver.
• Its successful implementation will allow for the development of a four-wheel,
steered power base with maximum flexibility, uncompromised static stability,
front- and rear wheel tracking, and optimum obstacle climbing capability.
