Hawaii Benefits – Take Deductions for Employee Only


Coverage
Requirement 1a:
The employee only portion will be calculated as 1.5% of gross earnings or the predefined amount. The
lesser of the two will be deducted from the employee’s pay.

 Create a new deduction code to capture the maximum yearly employee only deduction (similar to EBS Commuter
Benefits).

Custom Build:
 The inbound mercer deduction process will be modified for all HI Temp enrolled in benefits (changes by
RH only)
 Maintain employee only general deductions (new Deduction code) including 1.5% calculation
 New monthly limit reset process for employee only (new deduction code)

Dependent Coverage
Requirement 1b:
Employees with dependent coverage (EE + Dependent) -  the 1.5% gross or predefined amount (lesser of
the two) will be withheld from the employee's paycheck. Along with this the employee will pay for the
dependent portion sent to RH by Mercer weekly inbound file.

Delivered Option:
 No change to current MDK deduction.

Custom Build:
 The inbound mercer deduction process will be modified for employees with coverage level of EE+
Dependents.
 Continue to deduct the dependent amount that is sent in the mercer inbound file and store as general
deduction, as well as insert EE Only deduction code from previous slide.

Assumption:
 No changes to the weekly Mercer Inbound file (from the vendor)
 PeopleSoft/Payroll will maintain 2 deduction codes (one for EE only portion for all HI employees  and
one for EE + Dependents).
