WHAT IS EVALUATION?
The process of judging or putting a value on
a learning process using established criteria
to identify the degree to which knowledge or
skill has been gained and applied.
WHAT IS AUTHENTIC ASSESSMENT?

Evaluates the student’s collective


skills and abilities to perform and
demonstrate the task in the real
world situation.

Authentic assessment focuses on students


using and applying knowledge and skills in real-
life settings while traditional assessment
requires learners to display their knowledge in
predetermined way (Brualdi, 1996).

usually designed by the teacher
to gauge students’
understanding of material

1. OBSERVATION

It means that educators


observe the child’s behavior and
performance in order to make
inferences about their
development.
2. ESSAY

Even if it is an essay or written


requirements, it is considered an
authentic assessment also because
the students can apply what they
learned and acquired from the
previous lesson.
3. INTERVIEWS
Asking open ended questions to
evaluate (1) student oral language
proficiency, (2) what the student
learned during content instruction,
or (3) what types of strategies the
student is using when he/she is
struggling.
4. PERFORMANCE TASKS

Any learning activity or


assessment that asks students to
perform to demonstrate their
knowledge, understanding and
proficiency.
5. PORTFOLIOS

A collection of student work


that demonstrates progress and
growth.
6. JOURNALS

A tool students can us to


communicate with the teacher
and self-evaluate their learning
progress.
7. RUBRICS

Can help clarify your


expectations and will show
students how to meet them,
making students accountable
for their performance in an
easy-to-follow format.
8. SELF AND PEER-
EVALUATION
It enables students to
independently assess their own
and other students’ progress with
confidence rather than always
relying on teacher judgment.
