PLURALIZATION

Noun : a noun is a Word that refers to a person, place, thing or event.

We have different nouns
• Regular nouns: • Irregular nouns:
• The regular nouns follow the rules • The irregular nouns don’t follow the
and end in “s” or “es” rules, they can end differently.

For regular noun we have rules
1. General rule : we add “s” at the end of nouns to make them plural.

• 1.1 if you listen the sounds /ᶴᶻ/ (s , sh, ch, x)

Dish dishes dress dresses


2. If the noun ends in consonant + “o” we add “es”

Hero
Heroes

stereo stereos
3. If the noun ends in consonant + “y” we errase “y” and add
“ies”

Cherry cherries monkey monkeys


4. If the noun ends in “fe” we erase “f” and add “ves”
The Word leaf also uses this ending

knife knives leaf leaves
