What’s Astronomy?

Astronomy is the study of everything in the universe

beyond Earth's atmosphere. That includes objects we
can see with our naked eyes, like the Sun , the Moon ,
the planets, and the stars . It also includes objects we
can only see with telescopes or other instruments,
like faraway galaxies and tiny particles.
Astronomy is a science that seeks to explain
everything that we observe in the Universe,
from the comets and planets in our own solar
system to distant galaxies to the echoes of the
Big Bang.
ASTROPHYSICS

Astrophysics is an advanced field of astronomy

that studies the physical properties and behavior
of celestial bodies and the cosmos. It's a base for
understanding how our universe works, from
tiny subatomic particles to entire galaxies.

T Astrometry is the science of positional
R astronomy, which measures the location of a
O celestial object and its movement within the
M plane of the sky. This was one of the first
E techniques used to search for planets around
T other stars.

ASTROGEOLOGY
Astrogeology is concerned with the geology of
the solid bodies in the solar system, such as the
asteroids and the planets and their moons.
Research in this field helps scientists to better
understand the evolution of the Earth in
comparison with that of its neighbors in the solar
system.

T Astrobiology is the study of life in
R the universe. The search for life beyond
O
the Earth requires an understanding of
B
I life, and the nature of the environments
O that support it, as well as planetary,
L planetary system and stellar interactions
O and processes.
