ABSTRACT
Number of vehicles on our roads is increasing day by day also the technology has
developed but the safety factor is always needed to be considered. Now a days vehicles
come fitted with lots of safety features. Some of the essential safety feature that need to be
installed is automatic head light and horn system.
Drivers of most vehicles use high, bright beam while driving at night. He experiences a
sudden glare for a short period of time. We are expected to dim the headlight to avoid this
glare and same as some of the accident were occur in turning due to drivers laziness to
activate the horn sound.
To overcome such accidents an automatic mechanism has made to dip the headlight
automatically same as activate the sound during turning and when the two vehicle face
each other automatically horn sound will be produced.
This can reduce number of accident during night time and turning to provide comfortable
driving for the drivers.
OBJECTIVE

The core objective of this project is to design a automatic headlight

and horn system in the vehicles.
To develop an automatic control of high beam and low beam light in
vehicle during travelling in night with automatic horn system in the
vehicles in turnings.
Alcohol sensor which protect against drunk and drive.
To employ this method in all vehicles to prevent accident.

SUMMARY
From the literature survey it is evident that some of the project helps
the driver to use headlight and horn system automatically switches the
headlight high to low beam when it senses a vehicle approaching from
the opposite side and activate horn sound automatically turnings in
road.
The circuit consists of simple and economical components which can
be easily installed. The implementation of this device in automobile
field will brings safety and avoids accidents.
We are developing our project in low cost using Arduino.

EXPLANATION

• The requirement of headlight is very common during night travel. The same headlight
which assists the driver for better vision during night travel is also responsible for many
accidents.
• By using the LDR, we measure the intensity of the light radiation of the opposite
vehicle. When the intensity of the light radiation goes above the certain level.
• The headlight can be switched dip mode automatically by using the ultrasonic sensor
which dip the headlight of the vehicle during night time to prevent from the accidents.
• The ultrasonic sensor used to find the object coming in front of the vehicle if the vehicle
is turns left or right with 30 degree change in the steering, then automatically horn will
be sound.
• The circuits are connected to the Arduino is the controlling unit used for the whole
operation.
COMPONENTS

Arduino Nano
Battery
Ultrasonic Sensor
 Voltage Regulator
Driver Circuit
Light Dependent Resistor LDR
Liquid Crystal Display
Buzzer
LED Headlight
Alcohol sensor
Arduino Nano
•The Arduino Nano is a small, complete, and breadboard-friendly
board based on the ATmega32P released in 2008.
• It offers the same connectivity and specs of the Arduino Nano
board in a smaller form factor.
• The Arduino Nano is equipped with 30 male I/O headers, in a DIP-
30-like configuration, which can be programmed using the Arduino
Software integrated development environment (IDE), which is
common to all Arduino boards and running both online and offline.
12V Battery

•The twelve-volt batteries are commonly used in RV, boat, and

other automobile systems.
• From a technical perspective, a battery uses one or more cells
to allow a chemical reaction creating the flow of electrons in a
circuit.
•Batteries do not create energy or power on their own. Average
12V car batteries typically last three to five years.
L7805 Voltage Regulator

•The 7805 Voltage Regulator IC is a commonly used voltage

regulator that finds its application in most of the electronics
projects.
• It provides a constant +5V output voltage for a variable input
voltage supply. The 7805 voltage regulator is a three-terminal
voltage regulator IC.
• In various applications, a 7805 voltage regulator with a fixed
output voltage is used.
L7812 Voltage Regulator

•The LM7812 IC comes in the family and provides a fixed regulated

output of 12V DC for a variable input voltage range of 14.5 to 27V
DC. The L7812CV is a three-terminal positive voltage regulator.
•This regulator can provide local on-card regulation, eliminating the
distribution problems associated with single point regulation.
•The IC provides fixed 12V output voltage no matter if the input
voltage is fluctuating or changing continuously or it is higher than
12V but the input voltage should not be more than 35V which is the
maximum input voltage limit this IC is capable to handle.
L293D DRIVE

•The L293D is a popular 16 pin motor drive.

•It receives signals from the microcontroller and transmits the
relative signal to the appliance connected to it.
•It consist of two voltage pins.
•The L293D is used to provide bidirectional current drive of upto
600mA at voltage from 4.5 to 6v
LDR
•Light Dependent Resistor as the name suggest the resistance
is dependent upon the light incident on it.
•The light dependent resistor resistance changes with intensity
of light, with increase in light intensity the resistance offered
by the sensor decreases and with decrease in light intensity the
resistance offered by the sensor increases . Hence it acts as
variable resistor with change in light intensity.
•These helps in finding the amount of light intensity at that
instant of time and thus helping in regulating the lighting of
our lighting system accordingly.
Buzzer

• Buzzer is a kind of voice device that converts audio model

into sound signal. It is mainly used to prompt or alarm.
• According to different design and application, it can
produce music sound, flute sound, buzzer, alarm sound,
electric bell and other different sounds.
• When hazardous event occurs the buzzer will give alarm
sound.
Liquid Crystaline Display

• LCD is a type of flat panel display which uses liquid

crystals in its primary form of operation.
• Liquid crystals do not emit light directly, instead using a
backlight or reflector to produce images in color or
monochromate.
• LCDs are available to display arbitrary images with low
information content, such as preset words, digits, and
7-segment displays.

CONCLUSION
• Automated vehicle safety system provides better safety at night time and
drivers can drive comfortably and reach their destination safely. There are two
modes provided viz, automatic and manual mode. While driving in the cities
here are light everywhere which can affect the working of the device that time
the mode can shift to manual mode to avoid flickering of the headlight.
• When both the vehicle dip the headlight beam of each other efficiently. Main
components helps to run the circuit are easily available and are cheap.
Therefore the installation of this safety system in each vehicle give safety at
night driving, increase comfort level of driver and decrease the road accidents.
