LEARNING

What is LEARNING?

• Learning is an active process that takes place as individuals

interact with their environment and incorporate new
information or experiences on what have learned.
How does learning occur?
• Occur by creating meaning from experience
• Does not transfer knowledge from the external world into
memory
• Built personal interpretations of the world based on individual
experiences and interactions
• Process in which learner is able to build on present and previous
information
FACTORS IN THE ENVIRONMENT THAT
AFFECT LEARNING
• Pattern of stimuli
• Effectiveness of role model and reinforcements
• Feedback for correctness and incorrect responses
• Opportunities to process and apply learning to a new
situations
• Learning is an individual matter. Neuropsychology research is
beginning to document the uniqueness of each person's way of
actively perceiving and processing information, as well as his
or her flexibility and reactions to stress.
• these days about the impact of culture and emotions on how
and what is learned and remembered—compared to when
people supported the saying "Spare the rod and spoil the
child," believing that humiliation and punishment aided
learning.
• The learning theories reviewed here suggest that to learn,
the individual must want to gain something, which in turn
arouses the learner by creating tension and the prospensity
to act or change behavior.
• As noted earlier, it is easier to instill new learning than to
correct faulty learning. That is why it is smart to invest time
and care in the early stages of learning and make sure what
is learned is accurate or correct
EXPERIENCES THAT FACILITATE
LEARNING PROCESS
• Educator must have the knowledge of the material or skill to be
learned
• Educator must be competent
Experiences that hinder the learning process

• Lack of clarity
• Negative or infective role models
• Fear, neglect or hard punishment
Helps Ensure That Learning Becomes Relatively Permanent

Four considerations :
• the likelihood of learning is enhanced by organizing the learning
experience, making it meaningful and pleasurable, recognizing
the role of emotions in learning, and by pacing the presentation in
keeping with the learner’s ability to process information.
• practicing(mentally and physically) new knowledge or skills
under varied conditions strengthens learning.
Helps Ensure That Learning Becomes Relatively Permanent

• concerns reinforcement
• involves whether learning transfers beyond the initial
educational setting.
