Resources
What is Energy Resources
Energy resources can be defined as materials or elements that can be used to produce
energy. Energy is a quantitative property, which produces an output or a force that can be
analyzed.

There are 2 kinds of energy resources. Renewable and non-renewable energy resources.
01
Renewable Energy Resources
An energy derived from natural source that
are replenished at a higher rate than the
consumed.
Examples of Renewable
Energy Resources

Solar Energy Wind Energy

02
Non Renewable Energy Resources
An energy that is exhaustible and cannot be
replaced once they have been used up.
Examples of Non Renewable
Energy Resources

Fossil Fuel Coal

1. Solar Energy
Solar energy is radiant light
and heat from the Sun that is
harnessed using a range of
technologies such as solar
power to generate electricity,
solar thermal energy, and solar
architecture.

2. Geothermal Energy
Geothermal energy is heat energy
from the earth—Geo (earth) +
thermal (heat). Geothermal
resources are reservoirs of hot water
that exist or are human made at
varying temperatures and depths
below the Earth's surface.

3. Hydropower Energy
Hydropower Energy is an
renewable source of energy
that generates power by using a
dam or diversion structure to
alter the natural flow of a river
or other body of water.

4. Natural Gases
Natural gas is a mixture of gases
which are rich in hydrocarbons. All
these gases (methane, nitrogen,
carbon dioxide etc) are naturally
found in atmosphere. Natural gas
reserves are deep inside the earth
near other solid & liquid
hydrocarbons beds like coal and
crude oil.

5. Coal
Coal is a combustible black or dark
brown rock consisting of carbonized
plant matter, found mainly in
underground deposits and widely
for electricity production.

6. Wind Energy
Wind is used to produce
electricity by converting the
kinetic energy of air in motion
into electricity.
